People spend much of their week at work, and as a result the workplace should be a pleasant and enjoyable place to be. Many firms do not allow employees to wear comfortable clothes or even fun, but this is a big mistake because it creates an uncomfortable work environment and will not, usually, promote good company morale.
Companies should look for ways to reward employees in addition to making the workplace a pleasant place to spend the majority of of their week. Having donuts on Monday morning, providing an employee dinner every month or even offering employees to wear casual clothes on Fridays can be good ideas to lighten things up a bit. By increasing the enjoyment that you employees have while at work, you will also increase their desire to work harder for you, therefore being more productive during their work day.
Goal setting is also a way to help employees track their progress and give them something to work towards. This helps to give them a motivation to work harder and this can really help improve employee morale in addition to create a competitive atmosphere. Setting individual goals in addition to company wide goals allows people to attain success which is a major morale booster.
Awards and rewards for employees who are doing a good job is another way of creating a better working environment. If an employee knows that you have seen, recognized and rewarded them for a job well done,they no longer feel invisible. And also, they feel loved. To be recognized by their employers will motivate them to work harder for the company since they know that their actions are being rewarded and this makes them work even harder to keep pleasing their owners and managers. They begin to feel that they are an important asset for the company and can make a difference.
The firms which reward their employees, have parties, casual day, and that workers involved in the establishment of the target are those that manage to create a better working environment. In this way firms account for these results immediately in your bottom line and this makes everyone even happier. Being able to have fun, to feel useful and appreciated is a big part of creating a pleasant working environment. As a manager, you can catch more bees with honey, why not try to take a more positive approach to staff management by improving employee morale and reward employees who are making a difference? You will immediately feel the change if taking a more positive role.
