St. Patrick is considered to be Irelands National Saint. He carries the symbol of Shamrock which is Irelands National Plant. Shamrock or the clover leaf in Irish legends is believed to present good luck to those who have it. The St. Patricks Day is an annual celebration in commemoration of Irelands well-loved Saint. He was the one responsible in bringing and spreading Christianity all over Ireland.
St. Patricks Day is also celebrated in other countries where Irish population is bountiful, like in America. In Dubuque, Iowa St. Patricks Day is celebrated through locals donning green shirts and carrying the symbols of the clover leaf. In some parts of Ireland, people do get carried away as they dye a whole river green in commemoration to their favorite Saints. During the festival, native Irish food and delicacies are also served for the peoples enjoyment.
