Most parents would want to be certain that their baby is able to sleep through the night without any interruptions. Parents are also on the look out for ways to secure their babies in their cribs while lessening the chances of them falling off if left unattended. To address those concerns, there are now such things as crib tents for convertible cribs to be certain that your baby is protected from insects and falling off.

Look for a crib that is fully set up, so that you can check on it carefully. Do not buy any dismantled crib, as it is hard to figure out where all the pieces go without the instructions. With the pile of pieces you cannot even decide whether all the pieces are actually available or not. With the crib which is set up, you can shake it to check the durability, check the caster wheels and can also drop the sides and give a complete visual inspection. It's seldom that the used crib comes with a return policy so be very careful on finally deciding on the crib before you actually buy it.

All the cribs are made keeping in mind the U.S federal standards. But in this case those standards are voluntary and at times mistakes do happen. The space between the slats should not be more than 2-3/8" and the height of the corner posts should not be higher than 1/16". If there are any decorative cut outs in the headboard or the foot board then they might pose a safety hazard for the baby. Check all the standards before finalizing on it.

With a convertible crib, it makes more sense to keep the crib within the family as it is used for a longer period of time. For families who plan on having more than one child, it is highly possible that the little one may still be using the convertible crib if the time comes around for the new addition to the family to need it.

Having a convertible crib only makes sense, particularly if it comes to larger families. It is easy to transition from a sleeping space for an infant to a little one, and it doesn't require the purchase of a toddler bed at that, saving valuable money in the long run. Cribs are not cheap, and being able to get more use out of a convertible crib certainly helps to justify the money spent on a crib n the first place.

Convertible cribs are the cribs which can be made into a toddler bed or even an adult size bed to accommodate your child if he or she grows. If you are on the look out for a used convertible crib, then check whether the convertible kit is available or not, whether it is included in the price. If they are not included then contact the manufacturer to find out whether the kit is still available and about the pricing. Decide whether the convertible style is what you are really looking out for.
