Body Armors are like protective shields that stops projectiles from entering the body. Bulletproof vest is the term they coined for modern day body armor.
They created the bulletproof vest to stop any projectiles from entering the body that can damage the sensitive organs.
Bulletproof vests are usually made from either Spectra or Kevlar along with the addition of steel or ceramic plates on some types. These materials are effective in stopping bullets because they disperse the energy of the bullets over a large area.
Technological advancements of ammunition and ballistics have led to the development of different types of body armor. The military and other law enforcement agencies, including private securities, utilize bulletproof vests for protection against gun fire.
The design and materials they use on bulletproof vests differs depending on its use. Kevlar is the most popular among the materials that they use for making bulletproof vests. The main reason behind this is that Kevlar is both lightweight and tough, making it the material of choice for making bulletproof vests.
Kevlar is made by weaving Kevlar yarn into cloth and interweaving it along with resins and similar cloth. The resulting material is strong enough to withstand gun fire. Listed below are types of body armors:
Soft Bullet Proof Vest - this is a very common kind of bulletproof vest and it is the type being used by the police and private securities. It is created by interweaving fibers and soft clothing to form a net. This is effective against ordinary weapons but ineffective against high caliber rounds.
Interceptor Vests - this kind of bulletproof vest is made of Kevlar and other protective plates. The plates serve as protection for the front, back, throat, and groin.
Personnel Kevlar Vest - this kind of bulletproof vest is a physical armor and is made of thick Kevlar filler. It has a swivel shaped shoulder pads, a 3/4 inch collar, two front pockets, and two grenade hangers.
Dragon Skin Armor - this kind of bulletproof vest is made of silicon carbide ceramics that are shaped into small spherical discs. The discs are placed overlapping each other, similar to that of fish scales. The arrangement of the plates gives the armor flexibility and it can also protect the wearer from multiple hits.
