The NBA, the fans and the gear

Has anyone else noticed how much more attention the NBA is getting? The popularity of the games are noted in part by the fact that NBA sports gear flies off of the shelf and racks as soon as it is put there! What used to be primarily a NFL or MLB gig has now become an NBA niche too. There are more commercials with past and present NBA celebs (and they are usually hilarious!) There are more home hosted NBA parties, which also used to be fairly reserved for Baseball and Football.
NBA gear is getting more geared toward women fans. Women have been learning and enjoying the game much more than they used to. For that reason, there are hats, jerseys, tee-shirts and accessories geared toward women. Who would have thought the NBA would have pink sportswear available? Well it is, and it is hot.
This is not just happening in Los Angeles and New York, it is happening all over the country whether there is a local basketball team or not. Chicago, Philadelphia, North Carolina, Kansas, Washingtonit just doesn't matter where, there are going to be NBA parties! Not only the guests are decked out in their favorite sports gear but often the hosts will pull out all of the stops and the entire house or room will be decorated NBA style.
It's all about the team and team spirit, and Americans have a lot of both. From one end of this country to another, sports gear disappears off of the racks and shelves of the sport shops.
People in general love sports and loving the NBA is no different. Although there has been a surge in NBA fans, there are yet others who are and always will be fans of other sports. That's how it works and that is what makes it interesting... Many choose one favorite sport but enjoy several. NASCAR is one example of that. There are many Nascar fanatics that also enjoy football or basketball. With the NBA, they have their die-hard fans, but some have also been known to watch other sports events too. Of course, these other events take a back seat once "their" team is playing.
NBA fans are just as enthusiastic, loyal and fanatical about their teams as anyone else is. They have their "game day gear" on and they are ready to watch some basketball! More and more NBA and basketball parties are being held in homes throughout the nation. They are fun and exciting. Hey! Why doesn't the NBA or a sports shop host a party and sell the appropriate sportswear? They would make a killing!
NBA parties can be just as (or more) fun than an MLB party or an NFL party. The idea is to get people together and have fun while supporting "your" team. The hats, jackets and accessories just add to the atmosphere and the fun and they are a big part of the event. So go down to the mall or jump on the internet and get the latest sports gear so you can show it off to your party goers. No, it isn't a fashion show, its fun! Get those snacks ready and the television dusted off, put on your sports wear and get ready to party. The NBA is here to stay so make the most of it.
